Acacia Sears

Acacia Sears is a Baltimore-based singer songwriter whose work is rooted in true life stories, thick with metaphor and imagery, percussive while being poetic. She has released two indie rock albums and one children’s album, and is preparing to record her next indie rock album in the Spring of 2024.

Acacia has hosted open mics at Teavolve and the Marquee Lounge, both noteworthy landmarks in the Baltimore area. In February, 2024, she played a nearly sold-out show with ilyAIMY at the Baltimore County Arts Guild, and the performance was described as "syngeristic beyond imagination."

John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats is also a fan, saying "Any songwriter would preen if they wrote melodies like Acacia Sears does; every one's a gem."

On her sophomore album, Unravelled, Acacia sang about missed connections and untaken chances. With a full band, “Fortune Cookie,” “On the Record,” and “Whole Wide World” all explore the same autobiographical experience in different ways, weaving a story throughout the album. The final song, “Revisionist History,” closes the record with several rewritten versions of the events, all portraying different worse-case scenarios.

Her upcoming album, "Egress," talks about grief, divorce, and the coming to peace with life and its finality. It includes a murder ballad called "Burn the Bed," an exuberant anthem called "Cicada Season, and catchy but mournful "Polygon Heart."
